"Play the fool"
This past week I've been watching TED Conferences videos as I start my weekday. Most of them give some sort of good insight which I thought I could apply to my work (LOL yeah, I think that much about work). But today, I got to watch this video of Ethan Hawk: Give yourself permission to be creative.
In my attempt to take care of myself by writing again, I can't help but feel "H*LL YEAHHH" all throughout the video. Creativity - in its nature - is sustenance. We are humans and we are bound to feel a lot of things and heck it's even possible to feel a lot all at the same time.
I don't recall how I started out being a perfectionist but such a mediocre one at the same time. I wanted things to be picture-perfect always thinking that the world should see the "prettiest" version.
But I guess, this time, I really wanted to write for myself. I want to do this for myself. Just because writing even write now, makes me feel so free.
You know those time when we were kids and we did not care how our artwork looked - we just wanted to throw ourselves out there because well, we just want to.
It's so refreshing to get to feel this once again; after all the busyness of working and taking care of our home and making sure we've got enough to put food on the table, sanity's a bit back and I can't help but feel like a human again.
And a pretty foolish one at that. :)
If you're still reading until here, do yourself a favor and check out the full video of Ethan Hawke's Ted Talk.
