What I Learned When I Tried to Workout like Kristina for 12 Weeks

If enrolling in a gym is a bit of a hassle (travel time and traffic + not enough free time), working out at home can be the best way to start getting fit. Some fitness coaches post their workout routine on social media. There are also certain apps you can download for free (like the Nike Training App!) wherein you can create a plan and schedule and it will setup a program for you. I tried both. It was a great jump start to modify my lifestyle and mindset but I wanted to see more results.

Until I came across Kristina Luisa’s programs on Instagram. The first time I saw her was on Camille Co's Instagram story.

Upon further research (i.e. stalking her account) I found out the she offers online workout programs and coaching. She also posts transformation of her clients and I was convinced to subscribe. Luckily, last January, she offered her program at a discounted price.

I honestly thought it would be as easy as how I do my previous workouts but that would also mean that I would not get the results I wanted. It was exactly the change that I needed and here are a few things I learned from her 12 weeks program:

1. Food is your fuel. Starving yourself is NEVER the right way to achieving your fitness goals. Thanks to coach Kristina, I learned to love preparing my own meals. I found joy in planning my meals a few days ahead. I started by adding vegetables in my packed lunch which I bring to work. It looked that my lunch was more colorful and it made me more excited to eat lunch at work. A treat meal is never a bad idea, too. I occasionally enjoyed chocolates and sweets but I noticed how the cravings lessened.

2. Get out of your comfort zone. Last 2018, I was convinced that I could go on working out without trying to lift weights; I was afraid it would make me look too "manly". Apparently, I learned that weight training can help you increase lean muscle mass and tone your body. Nothing beats the feeling of lifting something and finishing off a rep you didn't think you could. I also tried to go to the gym which is only 5 minutes away from our house and slowly try to conquer "gymtimidation". I am sooo scared to get stared at but I figured people at the gym are more concerned with themselves.

3. Fitness is a lifelong journey. Once you started seeing results, it becomes an addiction. I figured that the program did more change in my mindset: I wanted to find more workouts that I enjoy, I wanted to be consistent with eating more intuitively and definitely be the fittest version of myself. It may take some time to be able to achieve it but it's more sustainable than following fad diets.

And here's what 12 weeks was like working out with Kristina. Tadaaaaa!

It may not be that much of a progress but I'm definitely proud of this change. It took a lot of guts to share this but I guess it's worth a shot to inspire people to change their lifestyle by doing the more sustainable approach than relying on shortcuts.

This May 11, 2019 coach Kristina is launching BBK 2.0! It's definitely a better version of her of the program where she shares workouts, suggestive meal guide, video examples, online coaching, and more!
