It's officially rainy season again! At times like this, staying in bed is not enough to keep you warm and cozy. Sometimes you just can't help but crave for comfort food that will put you in a state of "food coma" and make you head back to bed right away.
When thinking of Filipino comfort food, it can be having an option between the savory Bulalo that has this hot soup with soft and tender beef shanks, potatoes, corn, Chinese cabbage together with that sinful bone marrow you just got to scoop and convince yourself "Minsan lang naman 'to." or the classic Lugaw, with its timeless simplicity that gives you the option on adding more flavor to it by adding calamansi, pepper, onion chives, chili garlic, garlic bits, fish sauce, etc.
Just imagine when you combine these two comfort foods and have the satisfaction you need for your cravings or even curing your hangover. The Hey Manila team had the chance to experience this on Bulalugaw Express with their fifth branch in Ali Mall, Cubao, Quezon city.

Their menu is simple but will give you a detailed description of what's in it. They also offer Merienda side dishes which is the perfect partner for their Bulalugaw. And if you'e opting to have rice meals, they also have Bulalo Sizzlers which you can avail of unlimited rice just by adding Php 20!

The star of the menu is their Bulalugaw Super Special which is loaded with all the goodness that both lugaw and bulalo has to offer. This fully loaded special bulalugaw greets your taste buds with its savory lugaw followed by the meaty toppings mixed with it. What's also good is that you won't have to be surprised if you took a bite of chicken strips or chunks of ginger (I am honestly a victim of this loads of times!) 'cause we all know that's a deal breaker. You just keep on wanting more and have a taste not only of the ox tripe or the lechon kawali but all of the other meat toppings as well.

You can share it as it comes in a large bowl but if you want the bone marrow just for yourself, we can't blame you.
Other options for their Bulalugaw are the Classic Bulalugaw, Lechon Kawali, Original Beef, Arroz con Pollo and the Goto.

Their Bulalugaw is perfectly paired with the Merienda side dishes. Best pair it with their vinegar that just complements the taste and speaks to us Filipinos how that Vinegar would pair best with almost anything.

Last category on the menu is their Bulalo Sizzlers which gives you can avail with unlimited rice just by adding Php 20.

You can visit their newest branch in Ali Mall Cubao, Quezon City. They're located at the ground floor near Yellow Cab. They're open 24/7! So whether you're craving for rainy season comfort food or just want to beat hangover, Bulalugaw Express can be the perfect place.
