DIY hair color has been a convenient and affordable way to upgrade one's look. Ever since I tried it, I was pretty much convinced of having this option to color my hair instead of going back to the salon.
I previously tried the brand Liese and was happy with the results. Not only was my hair colored evenly but it wasn't dry as well. While scrolling through Shopee, I came across another brand of DIY hair color: Mise en Scène.

Mise En Scène Hello Bubble in Dusty Ash
Mise En Scène Hello Bubble foam color is a Japanese brand of bubble hair dye. The brand collaboration with Black Pink offers different permanent hair colors that one can get in the comfort of their home.
I opted for the Dusty Ash variant since I was aiming to get slightly ash-colored hair. Also, since it was Jennie on the cover, I HAVE to try it. Compared to Liese, Mise En Scène is cheaper. Its price was Php 328 at the Shopee store where I got it.
I tried it with almost below shoulder-length hair and just assumed it was enough. Instructions on the box are written in Korean.

The box contains 2 sachets of solutions, the solution 1 (hair colorant) and 3 (ampoule) which are to be added to the bottled solution, solution 2 (oxidizing agent). There's also the pump, instruction sheet, a pair of gloves and cape, and the serum hair treatment.

Since I tried bubble hair dye before, I figured it's okay to not try any allergy test of the product anymore.
How do you use Mise En Scène Hello Bubble?
To prepare the solution, simply pour solution 1 and solution 3 into the bottled solution 2 and cover it using the pump. Leaving the bottle upright, mix it in circular motions about 20 times. I tried doing 10 clockwise and the other 10 counter-clockwise. Pumping the bottle after should result in foamy shampoo.

Just like using a regular shampoo, the foam can now be applied to the hair, making sure to cover the roots down to the tip of the hair.
I tried parting my hair in the middle and applying the bubble foam from the roots down to the tip. After that, I applied another generous amount starting from the tip this time, then making way to the roots of my hair. I repeated this process on the other side of my hair. Then when I was almost done with the bottle, I gathered all of my hair to the top of my head and applied the last bit of shampoo to hold it together.

The instruction manual says to wait for 20-30 minutes before washing the hair. Thinking that it'll give better color pay-off, I waited for about 1 and a half hours before washing it.
Do you shampoo after using Mise En Scène Bubble Hair Dye?
Based on the instruction, the bubble foam color should be rinsed first with lukewarm water, and then use shampoo. After rinsing again, the treatment serum should be used as an after-color treatment.
I noticed that even after washing the treatment serum, there was still some blue dye coming off my hair. I noticed this even after a few days! The blue dye coming off after every shower lasted for about 2 days. It was also a mistake to use a white towel for drying my hair because it caught a bit of the blue dye. Thankfully, the stain came off from the towel after washing with detergent.
Before and After using Mise En Scene Dusty Ash
The final color was far from the one in the box since it gives off a hint of a greenish tint. It's far from the result I wanted but I still liked it!

After a few days, the hair color still got a bit lighter. It did not have the bluish shade I was expecting, more like a khaki ash color.
Overall, I like the Mise En Scène bubble hair dye but I'd still choose to repurchase the Liese.
Here are some points why I'd still choose Liese:
1. Liese was easier to find (Watsons, Shopee, and Lazada) You can even buy it in some groceries.
2. I felt that my hair was softer after using Liese
3. It did not stain my towel
I'm happy that I still got to try another brand of bubble hair color. You can also shop it here if you feel like you'd like a budol! 😉
